7.7MMERQK

A project of PLATFORM36, 7.7MMERQK is an exhibition that bring global attention to the aftermath of the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28, 2025. This exhibition explores themes of natural disaster, humanitarian neglect, ongoing conflicts and resilient community spirit through striking visuals story tellings.

Documented by a collective of independent local photojournalists and citizen journalists (Linkar, Zide, Ko C & GoDark), this exhibition captures the immediate and long-term impact of the earthquake across Mandalay, Sagaing, and surrounding regions — areas known for their religious, cultural, and historical significance.

As of April 2025, this catastrophic event resulted in at least 4,346 deaths, 7,890 injuries, over 210 missing persons and more than 5000 historic sites and religious buildings, including Buddhist temples, mosques, and churches, were damaged or destroyed.

The earthquake impacted more than nine million people across 58 townships, creating a public health emergency in a nation already grappling with ongoing conflict and humanitarian crises.

In the face of limited international access and a fragile political climate, this exhibition aims to center the lived experiences of survivors while mobilizing resources for relief.

All proceeds and donations will go directly to trusted humanitarian organizations providing medical support and emergency healthcare services on the ground — working independently from the military junta and directly with affected communities.

This exhibition is curated by PLATFORM36 and in collaboration with CMB, BANGKOK Tribune, SEAJUNCTION & PLATFORM36 working together in an efforts to provide supports Myanmar’s unheeded cry.
